Educational Mission Trip – July 2009

Lori Kristensen from King’s Way Christian School in Vancouver Washington lead a team to Habanero for teacher training.  Lori held classes for our teachers as well as teachers from neighboring villages. The classes were well received and the Dominican teachers had a great time experimenting with the many ways children learn.

Concepts such as learning through playing games or singing songs are new ideas in the Dominican culture. Teaching is very structured in the DR and most everything is taught by repetition, the teacher writes it on the blackboard and the student copies it down in their notebook.

Lori also brought lots of supplies donated by the students of King’s Way.
