Brenda Backes, who lives in Longview, Washington, retired a year after going on her first medical mission trip to the Dominican Republic in 2004.  She retired in order to focus full time on serving poverty stricken children.  Believing education is the foundation of freedom from poverty, she focused on the educational needs of the children.
Today Evergreen4kids provides dental, medical, education, shoes, uniforms, vitamins and a daily meal to over 70 children.  The school that was constructed is the heart of the community and a center for spiritual guidance as well. 
Evergreen4kids is managed by a Board of Directors that meets bi-monthly.
